Welcome Nick Coyle to Madison Millinger

Madison Millinger is pleased to welcome Nick Coyle to our team of experienced rug experts. Beginning in the late 90's, Nick worked extensively in hand-made carpet production learning about wool qualities, vegetable dying techniques, and weaving methods. After moving to Peshawar, Pakistan to study carpet production under his mentor, Nick returned to America as director of Texere, a boutique collection of organically textured carpets made in Pakistan. He then went on to open design center showrooms for Lapchi in the Chicago Merchandise Mart and Los Angeles Pacific Design Center.

Nick served as the showroom director for the Lapchi LA showroom until an irresistable opportunity arose once again to move closer to the source of carpet weaving, this time to Nepal where he oversaw made-to-order and quality control for Lapchi. He has recently moved back to Portland and has joined with Madison Millinger where he will be putting his extensive knowledge to work as a resource for the design trade, and deepening clients' understanding and appreciation for the art of high-end hand-made carpets. Visit Madison Millinger today and meet Nick and our entire team of rug experts, and enjoy a cappuccino in our beautiful new Pearl District showroom.

Buying and Decorating with Rugs

The February/March issue of Homes + Gardens Northwest featured an article titled, “Here’s the Lowdown on Buying and Decorating with Rugs.” The article went through the buying process, explaining what to look for in terms of quality, aesthetics and design, and featured decorating tips from Madison Millinger’s own Meg Coulter. The article's main image (shown here) is an installation of a Lapchi wool and silk rug in the home of Jon Palanuk by Madison Millinger.

From the section Complimentary Fabrics: “When working with a large scale floral such as this, designer Meg Coulter chooses solid colors for the larger furnishings such as the teal chaise. Balance is also achieved with smaller-scale patterns in pillows, side-chair seat cushions in geometric patterns and striped ottomans. A bold damask pillow provides a strong visual accent.” Click on the thumbnail image for a larger view.
