Green for over 3,000 years!

It’s Earth Day, and at Madison Millinger we firmly believe that going “green” doesn’t mean that you have to skimp on style, and looking good shouldn't have to take a back-seat to doing good. If you're in the market for a new rug for your home, please see our incredible collection of eco-friendly designer rugs.

renewable for the environment

Hand-woven rugs have been “green” long before the concept was even thought of. Our rugs are made entirely by hand with virtually no machinery. Both the wool of the pile and the cotton of the foundation are completely renewable and readily available. The fibers are combed by hand and spun by hand using a foot pedal for power. All natural vegetal dyes are often used and the rugs are woven and finished all by hand.

Explore our collection of beautiful rug lines online, or visit our showroom today for a personal tour. Our sister store in the Pearl District, JD Madison features more than ten incredible lines of furniture, and fabrics that are made from reclaimed, recycled or certified sustainable materials. Visit today and find just the right green furniture piece to match your beautiful new rug.

Megerian Goes Green

Megerian Rugs, one of more than 16 incredible rug lines available at Madison Millinger, is unveiling their new green initiative by utilizing environmentally friendly dyes and processes in the production of their new line of fine handmade rugs.

The natural dyes are derived from flowers, roots, and plants from the Armenian highlands and are never tainted with dangerous heavy metals as in many synthetic dyes currently in use today. Other than being environmentally friendly, the vegetable dyes ensure vibrant, long lasting colors that reflect the region from which they were gathered. The manufacturing process of these rugs is also extremely environmentally friendly – every step, from the cleaning to the weaving, is chemical, pollutant, and preservative free, ensuring a safe product for the health of your home.

Megerian Rugs

We applaud Megerian on their efforts to further enhance the “green” aspects of their fine rug manufacturing. Please visit our showroom to view samples of the Megerian collection, and all of our other eco-luxurious rug collections.
